It is a well known fact among men that women can, at times, be moody.
They don't understand it, but most of them have experienced it, and they don't like it. The unpredictability is uncomfortable and the message a woman's "moodiness" sends to man is that she can't be pleased, she isn't content, but volatile and weak because she is the victim of her surroundings and her experiences. But does that need to be true? Is there a way around moodiness?
Can you control how you feel and therefore how you act when times get messy? God's word says you can. In fact, it demands it. Consider this command, "Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4) If God commands it, it must be possible. After all, what kind of God would command an impossibility?
A mood is a result of a way of thinking of your circumstances. The more you listen to your physical condition the less you hear the truth of scripture, but the more you refuse to let the world around you determine your moods the freer you become. Becoming the Woman of Mystery you were meant to be means step-by-step, day-by-day, grabbing your emotions by the scruff of the neck and tossing them the out the door. When you start to make the Holy Spirit’s thoughts your own, when you study his word and find out what pleases him, when you want what He wants, then controlling your emotions becomes easier and easier. When those bad moods come, you will start to recognize them quickly and even refuse them entrance.
Your moods don’t have to control you, but you can control them. Consider what your mood is railing against, your problem, your environment, something someone said or did. Is it reacting to what God said? Does it care more for man or for God? Because if it’s caring more about the creation than the creator it’s up to no good. Bad moods no longer have to plague the Woman of Mystery because her mood isn’t based on circumstances that change like the wind, but a God that is never changing. Having a bad day? Consider what joy can be found in the trial. Having a hard time? Consider what perseverance can do in your life. As the Woman of Mystery grows she starts to build experiences, experiences where she refuses her moods and instead chooses God. Each experience of this nature builds your strength, character and faith. The world might tell you that moods are a fact of life, that they can’t be controlled that easily or escaped all together, but if that were true then God’s word would be wrong. " when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy." (James 1:2) Sin is never an acceptable choice in the
life of faith. When your moods waiver, when you refuse joy, peace, hope, kindness, perseverance, patience, humility and love you turn your back on God, and that, my friend is moodiness. We, as women of mystery, can no longer allow what the world considers a fact of life to be truth, but must call it the lie that it is. Moodiness is an unbiblical state. It rejects God's call for kindness and love. Consider these words penned by Paul in Ephesians, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." (Eph 4:31-32) So bless not only the man in your life, but your own soul as you reject your bad moods and replace them with the truth of God's word.
"The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!” (Lamentations 3:22-24)
